The 2018 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is suave, silky and caressing right out of the gate. Sumptuous and racy, with silky tannins, the Rocche possesses superb depth and plenty of resonance that builds over time. The 2018 is an especially potent Rocche that is going to need a number of years to unwind.
A deep set of red plums and berries with some fine tobacco leaf and savory herbs, mineral and porcini. Juicy and intense on the palate with lots of chalky, nicely chewy tannins and a juicy finish. From organically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but better after 2023.
A very pure and beautiful red with cherry and strawberry. Subtle spice, such as nutmeg and cedar. Orange peel, too. Medium to full body. Firm, silky tannins melt nicely into the wine. Fresh and clean finish. A little tight at the end. A beautiful single-vineyard Chianti Rufina with structure. Drinkable now, but better after 2023, when it will have softened a little.
The 2020 Barbera d'Alba Vigna Scarrone is stellar. Rich and expansive, the 2020 is laced with the essence of dark cherry fruit, rose petal, cinnamon, leather and mocha are front and center. All the elements all come together so effortlessly. Floral and spice notes reappear on the finish. This is such a classy and polished Barbera.
The 2022 Rosato Kómaros is airy and spicy, wafting up with a blend of crushed rocks, wild herbs and ginger-tinged berries. This is racy, sleek and full of zesty tension, with vibrant acidity guiding its mineral-tinged orchard fruits effortlessly across the palate. The 2022 cleans up beautifully through the finish, sizzling upon the senses with sour citrus.
Medium intense amber orange; aromas of burnt orange, marzipan and a hint of coffee. Medium-full with very good concentration. Rich finish with notes of coffee, chocolate and tree bark. Excellent complexity and typicity; a bit more subdued than some examples of Amaro. Enjoy over the next 3-4 years. 25% alcohol.
A dense, racy and expressive red, offering black cherry, black currant, violet and iron aromas and flavors, with a hint of rosemary. This is driven by vivid acidity and refined tannins, which lend both finesse and length. Shows great harmony and elegance. Best from 2025 through 2047. 828 cases made, 145 cases imported.
