Dark and brooding, the 2021 Le Stanze del Poliziano grumbles up with an array of grilled herbs and exotic spices before giving way to dusty black currant notes. This is silken in texture yet racy and spry, with polished red fruit tones that slowly saturate as hints of licorice and a tinge of sour citrus add lovely contrast. The 2021 tapers off with tremendous length and structure, leaving sweet tannins and a bitter blackberry concentration that pinches at the cheeks with youthful tension. Le Stanze del Poliziano comes across as very classic in feel.

The 2018 Barbaresco Riserva Martinenga Camp Gros is a very pretty wine, and also a Camp Gros that will drink well upon release. It shows good freshness, but also the smaller scaled style of the year. Dark red fruit, rose petal, mint, blood orange, cedar and spice. This is a very pretty wine, but it does not have the body or dark balsamic profile that are the signatures of Camp Gros in its strongest years.

Raspberry and kirsch aromas and flavors herald this aromatic red, along with iron, eucalyptus, wild herbs and spices. Impressive up front yet still needs time to resolve the assertive tannins. Sangiovese, Colorino, Canaiolo and Ciliegiolo. Best from 2028 through 2040.

Built to age, with concentrated flavors and lots of lip-smacking tannins, with medium weight and good acidity. It should be decanted if opened over the next few years or, if you like to see how a wine develops short term, take some time enjoying a glass or two to taste it as it develops in real time.

A captivating bouquet of candied red cherries and raspberries intertwines with wild mint and delicate floral notes reminiscent of violet and rose petals. The palate demonstrates both power and finesse, where chewy, well-integrated tannins provide a firm structural foundation without compromising elegance. The wine's depth suggests layers of red fruit preserves and subtle herbal nuances, carried by a refined finish that speaks to Monvigliero's prestigious terroir. Drink from 2027.
