Airy and crisply refreshing, the 2016 Zero wafts up with a bouquet of sweet smoke and pretty pear and sour melon nuances. It's elegant and soothing on the palate, with a burst of minerality up front that slowly gives way to green apple contrasting with candied ginger. Residual acids cleanse the senses while forcing them to water as this finishes long and nearly salty in character. The Zero does an excellent job of impressing with its savory character while urging the taster back to the glass for more. Well done.
This wine delivers the goods with fruit from a very warm and sunny vintage. The Casanova di Neri 2020 Rosso di Montalcino Giovanni Neri offers an almost exotic quality with Indian spice, grilled herb, candied orange and crushed rose. In fact, a second wave of floral aromas washes over the senses with lavender bud and lilac. This wine should hold a solid 10 years, if not more. It ages in tonneaux for 12 months.
The pale pink of the glass belies the intense aromatics and rich mouthfeel of this rosé. Wild strawberries and peach candy on the nose give way to more berries and stone fruit on the palate, with a bit of blood orange and lime and a lick of quartz on the finish.
Really pretty fruit here with currants and spices with some fresh flowers. Medium to full body. Fine tannins. Focused and real. From organically grown grapes. Give this three or four years to soften. Drink after 2026.
Delicately floral and finessed, the 2020 Soave Classico I Palchi Foscarino Grande Cuvée slowly blossoms in the glass. Coaxing adds volume and depth as hints of lemon oil and white smoke give way to flowery underbrush and sweet spice. This washes across the palate with pure elegance, silky and refined, with an attractive sweetness and juicy acidity that perfectly contrasts its mineral-tinged orchard fruits. Pretty inner florals mingle with a twang of lime and liquid rock as the 2020 finishes remarkably long and perfumed; what a beauty. This vintage of Foscarino Grande Cuvée was matured all in thirty-five-hectoliter casks.
This Alta Langa opens with a mix of lemon and orange peel mixed with baked apples, yellow flowers and pastry dough. The palate is round with a vinous note highlighting the Pinot Noir character, giving cherry and flowers and finishing with a mineral edge.
A racy red, with high-pitched aromas of tart cherry and rose hip signaling the bracing acidity. Intense, picking up wild herbs, mineral, leather and a smoky note on the palate. Shows excellent balance and length. Best from 2025 through 2042.
